Course Description
VMware End-User Computing: Design builds practical capability across Business drivers, user personas, workload characteristics, application portfolios, Horizon architecture, pods, connection servers. The course connects architecture and configuration choices to service behavior, operational ownership, security boundaries, and evidence that proves the platform is ready.
The learning journey extends into Network paths, display protocols, identity, access, Sizing, concurrency, storage performance. Learners create and review persona-to-service requirements matrix and assumption register, logical EUC architecture and component placement review, access-path test plan and security-boundary validation, capacity model and EUC design validation pack to compare intended design with actual behavior and isolate defects without losing traceability.
By completion, participants can contribute to an end-user computing design that aligns personas, application delivery, desktop architecture, security, availability, capacity, and operational support with measurable user experience. The final improvement plan records monitoring needs, unresolved risks, recovery actions, owners, and controlled next steps.
What You Will Learn
- Explain how Business drivers, user personas, and workload characteristics establish the technical foundation and influence later design decisions.
- Configure application portfolios, endpoint diversity, connectivity patterns, service levels, constraints, and design assumptions, then confirm readiness through persona-to-service requirements matrix and assumption register instead of relying on completion messages alone.
- Execute a controlled workflow covering Horizon architecture, pods, and connection servers, preserving prerequisites, changes, and resulting service behavior.
- Read logical EUC architecture and component placement review to isolate a desktop-pool design creating a single dependency on one management service, separate symptoms from causes, and choose a correction that can be safely retested.
- Integrate Network paths, display protocols, and identity with access, capacity, resilience, and downstream operational expectations.
- Challenge access, certificates, load balancing, security zones, data protection, and compliance controls using normal and boundary cases, then defend the outcome with access-path test plan and security-boundary validation.
- Investigate peak login demand exhausting resources before monitoring thresholds trigger by reviewing Sizing, concurrency, and storage performance before applying a reversible fix.
- Prepare capacity model and EUC design validation pack that demonstrates availability, disaster recovery, monitoring, user-experience metrics, lifecycle, and operational handover and supports handover, monitoring, governance, and the next improvement decision.
SkillDynamo Training Approach
Delivery combines focused demonstrations, guided configuration, scenario comparison, evidence review, fault isolation, peer discussion, validation checklists, and a final improvement plan. Learners record assumptions, decisions, expected results, observed behavior, and ownership of unresolved actions.
