Course Description
Spring Security focuses on designing and operating Spring Security architecture, filter chain, security context, authentication providers, Authorization rules, roles and authorities, method security. Participants learn how VMware components interact and how to detect weak assumptions before they become production incidents.
Advanced activities address OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect concepts, resource servers, JWT validation, claims, Secure testing, mock users, integration tests. Through security-filter map and authentication-flow test, authorization test matrix and denied-access evidence, token-validation trace and scope enforcement test, security regression suite and application hardening report, learners validate resilience, security, observability, recoverability, and readiness for support.
Participants leave prepared to deliver a securely designed Spring application with explicit authentication, authorization, session or token controls, protected endpoints, tested defenses, and auditable security behavior. Their closing plan converts test findings into practical actions for governance, monitoring, remediation, and future releases.
What You Will Learn
- Explain how Spring Security architecture, filter chain, and security context establish the technical foundation and influence later design decisions.
- Configure authentication providers, password encoding, user details, configuration model, and secure defaults, then confirm readiness through security-filter map and authentication-flow test instead of relying on completion messages alone.
- Execute a controlled workflow covering Authorization rules, roles and authorities, and method security, preserving prerequisites, changes, and resulting service behavior.
- Read authorization test matrix and denied-access evidence to isolate a broad request matcher granting access before a restrictive rule is evaluated, separate symptoms from causes, and choose a correction that can be safely retested.
- Integrate OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect concepts, resource servers, and JWT validation with access, capacity, resilience, and downstream operational expectations.
- Challenge claims, scopes, clients, token lifetime, key rotation, and identity-provider integration using normal and boundary cases, then defend the outcome with token-validation trace and scope enforcement test.
- Investigate a dependency update changing security behavior without a failing regression test by reviewing Secure testing, mock users, and integration tests before applying a reversible fix.
- Prepare security regression suite and application hardening report that demonstrates secrets, headers, common web attacks, audit logging, monitoring, dependency updates, incident response, and hardening and supports handover, monitoring, governance, and the next improvement decision.
SkillDynamo Training Approach
Instruction includes architecture walkthroughs, practical setup, workflow execution, troubleshooting scenarios, validation evidence, support planning, and a final improvement roadmap. Particular attention is given to safe change, resilience, observability, and accountable ownership.
