Course Description
VMware Advanced Operations & Disaster Recovery develops practical capability for an advanced vSphere operating model that combines automation, cluster resilience, network and storage diagnostics, encryption, replication, SRM recovery orchestration, and business-continuity exercises with controlled change. The learning path begins with advanced vm, vcenter, esxi operations, automation, and governance and progresses through cluster resilience, distributed networking, storage, and performance diagnostics, keeping architecture, access, dependencies, and measurable acceptance connected.
Applied work is situated in a critical virtual infrastructure hosting regulated workloads across primary and recovery sites, with demanding availability targets and a history of complex cross-layer incidents. Participants then address encryption, kms, certificates, backup, and vsphere replication and srm design, recovery plans, testing, failover, reprotect, and continuity exercises, using advanced-operations automation pack and configuration-drift report, cluster resilience exercise and network-storage diagnostic timeline, security-and-protection baseline with replication recovery proof, and timed SRM exercise report and approved continuity runbook to compare intended design with observed behavior.
By completion, learners can implement, validate, troubleshoot, and hand over the course workflows with defensible evidence. The final operating record identifies unresolved risks, monitoring requirements, recovery actions, owners, and the next controlled improvement.
What You Will Learn
- Model advanced virtual-machine operations, vCenter service administration, ESXi host profiles and configuration against the service outcome, constraints, and evidence required for approval.
- Establish scheduled operational checks, change governance, configuration drift, privileged operations, audit evidence, then confirm the effective behavior through advanced-operations automation pack and configuration-drift report.
- Execute HA admission control, DRS behavior, Fault Tolerance in controlled stages so each dependency and material side effect can be inspected.
- Interrogate cluster resilience exercise and network-storage diagnostic timeline when “storage latency being treated as a guest problem while path failover is repeatedly oscillating” appears, correcting the proven cause instead of masking the symptom.
- Balance VM encryption, key-provider and KMS dependencies, certificate lifecycle against resilience, least privilege, performance headroom, and operational simplicity.
- Validate restore testing, vSphere Replication design, replication configuration, RPO monitoring, protection validation across expected, exceptional, and recovery flows before signing off the implementation.
- Resolve “a recovery plan completing while a critical external dependency remains unreachable” by comparing baseline, failure-state, and post-correction evidence.
- Package timed SRM exercise report and approved continuity runbook for handover with monitoring thresholds, recovery steps, change notes, and improvement priorities.
SkillDynamo Training Approach
Learners investigate realistic multi-system faults, automate repeatable checks, test cluster and recovery behavior, and defend every corrective action with logs, timing, rollback, and service-owner acceptance. Delivery includes instructor demonstrations, guided exercises, scenario comparison, validation checklists, structured troubleshooting, and an evidence-backed improvement plan.
