Terraform with Vault & Terragrunt
Develop practical skills in managing multi-environment Terraform with Terragrunt while using Vault for dynamic secrets, identity-based access, secure pipelines, dependency orchestration, and controlled operations through four course-specific lessons, guided implementation, validation, troubleshooting, and operational evidence.

Course Description
Terraform with Vault & Terragrunt addresses two recurring infrastructure problems: repeated environment configuration and long-lived credentials. Terragrunt is used to compose environments and reduce duplication, while Vault supplies controlled secrets and dynamic access.
The course covers live repository structure, include blocks, dependencies, remote state generation, run-all behavior, Vault authentication, policies, secret engines, dynamic provider credentials, and pipeline integration.
Learners finish with a multi-environment infrastructure layout that minimizes copied configuration and a secret workflow that avoids placing credentials in Terraform files, variable files, or build logs.
What You Will Learn
- Design and implement Terraform modules versus Terragrunt live configuration for Terraform with Vault & Terragrunt.
- Validate Folder hierarchy, include blocks, and parent configuration, Environment, region, account, and component inputs, and DRY patterns, readability, and ownership boundaries through practical evidence and controlled change.
- Design and implement dependency and dependencies blocks for Terraform with Vault & Terragrunt.
- Validate Mock outputs and plan-time behavior, Generated backend and provider configuration, and run-all ordering, parallelism, and failure handling through practical evidence and controlled change.
- Design and implement Vault architecture, tokens, leases, and policies for Terraform with Vault & Terragrunt.
- Validate Authentication methods for users and pipelines, KV and dynamic secret engine patterns, and Terraform provider credentials and secret renewal through practical evidence and controlled change.
- Design and implement CI/CD identity and Vault integration for Terraform with Vault & Terragrunt.
- Validate Terragrunt validation, plan, apply, and promotion, Secret rotation, revocation, and failed-run cleanup, and Drift, state recovery, audit logs, and operational runbooks through practical evidence and controlled change.
SkillDynamo Training Approach
The course uses a three-environment repository and a Vault-backed deployment identity. Learners intentionally break dependency order, secret leases, state generation, and inheritance so they can diagnose the interactions unique to Terragrunt and Vault.
