Course Description
This advanced DevOps course examines three automation layers that are often implemented separately: Terraform for infrastructure, Puppet for configuration convergence, and Kubernetes for workload orchestration. Learners design the contracts between these layers.
The course covers immutable and mutable infrastructure choices, node bootstrapping, cluster prerequisites, configuration drift, Kubernetes resource deployment, secrets, observability, and multi-stage automation.
Learners finish with a layered reference architecture and an operational decision guide showing which tool should own each resource, configuration, and runtime concern.
What You Will Learn
- Design and implement Infrastructure, operating-system, and workload control planes for Advanced DevOps – Puppet, Terraform and Kubernetes.
- Validate Immutable versus mutable infrastructure trade-offs, Tool ownership matrix and lifecycle boundaries, and Repositories, environments, promotion, and governance through practical evidence and controlled change.
- Design and implement Reusable network, compute, storage, and load-balancer modules for Advanced DevOps – Puppet, Terraform and Kubernetes.
- Validate Bootstrap data, outputs, and inventory generation, Remote state and environment composition, and Plan gates, drift review, and safe replacement through practical evidence and controlled change.
- Design and implement Puppet classes, modules, facts, templates, and Hiera for Advanced DevOps – Puppet, Terraform and Kubernetes.
- Validate Package, service, kernel, and runtime configuration, Certificates, secrets, and environment classification, and Convergence testing and configuration drift through practical evidence and controlled change.
- Design and implement Kubernetes manifests, Helm, configuration, and secrets for Advanced DevOps – Puppet, Terraform and Kubernetes.
- Validate Namespaces, policies, services, ingress, and scaling, Pipeline orchestration across all three tools, and Observability, upgrades, rollback, and incident evidence through practical evidence and controlled change.
SkillDynamo Training Approach
The training uses a platform build scenario with intentional ownership conflicts. Learners must decide whether Terraform, Puppet, or Kubernetes should control each change, then prove the decision through idempotency, reconciliation, and rollback evidence.
