Course Description
This advanced course treats Terraform Cloud as an operating platform rather than a remote execution utility. Learners design workspace boundaries, project structures, run relationships, and access patterns for teams managing multiple services.
The content explores private modules, variable sets, run tasks, policy checks, agents, notifications, and operational controls. It also addresses the tension between developer autonomy and platform-team governance.
Learners finish with a Terraform Cloud operating model that supports repeatable runs, controlled credentials, reusable modules, policy evidence, and reliable escalation when a run fails.
What You Will Learn
- Design and implement Workspace decomposition and project boundaries for Terraform Cloud (Advanced).
- Validate VCS-driven, CLI-driven, and API-driven workflows, Run dependencies and remote state consumption, and Naming, ownership, tagging, and lifecycle standards through practical evidence and controlled change.
- Design and implement Workspace variables and reusable variable sets for Terraform Cloud (Advanced).
- Validate Dynamic provider credentials and secret minimization, Terraform Cloud agents and private network access, and Teams, permissions, and least-privilege execution through practical evidence and controlled change.
- Design and implement Private module and provider registry workflows for Terraform Cloud (Advanced).
- Validate Module versioning and release governance, Sentinel or policy-as-code enforcement concepts, and Run tasks, security checks, and cost or compliance integrations through practical evidence and controlled change.
- Design and implement Run states, notifications, audit trails, and API visibility for Terraform Cloud (Advanced).
- Validate State recovery, force unlock, and controlled intervention, Concurrency, queueing, drift, and run reliability, and Platform metrics, support models, and improvement backlog through practical evidence and controlled change.
SkillDynamo Training Approach
Learners act as a platform team onboarding three application squads. Each lab introduces a governance requirement—shared credentials, mandatory tags, private networking, policy checks, or run dependencies—and converts it into a manageable Terraform Cloud control.
