Course Description
Certified Incident Responder – PECB develops practical capability to coordinate cyber incident preparation, detection, analysis, containment, eradication, recovery, and post-incident learning. The four-lesson path moves from core principles and governance into applied controls, evidence, exceptions, and accountable improvement.
Applied work is based on an enterprise responding to ransomware indicators, identity compromise, data exfiltration, and service disruption. Learners create incident response readiness plan, triage and evidence case file, containment and recovery coordination pack, and post-incident improvement report, while testing decisions against realistic operational constraints.
By completion, participants can interpret the subject, perform the relevant workflow, evaluate evidence, communicate supported conclusions, and hand over prioritized actions with clear ownership and follow-up.
What You Will Learn
- Explain incident response governance and readiness requirements; rapidly connect it to coordinated preparation.
- Map triage, severity, and escalation criteria; rapidly record evidence for timely response activation.
- Evaluate evidence preservation and investigative analysis; rapidly test criteria supporting defensible incident conclusions.
- Apply containment and eradication decisions; rapidly create evidence for limited adversary impact.
- Identify gaps in recovery validation and service restoration; rapidly protect safe operational return.
- Document legal, regulatory, and stakeholder communication; rapidly link decisions to controlled incident disclosure.
- Resolve root-cause and post-incident review scenarios; rapidly choose controls for meaningful organizational learning.
- Present response metrics and capability actions findings; rapidly prioritize continually stronger resilience.
