Course Description
Terraform Essentials introduces infrastructure as code through a practical build-and-change cycle. Instead of memorizing syntax in isolation, learners connect configuration blocks to the resource graph and to the changes shown in a plan.
The course explains providers, resources, variables, outputs, state, modules, and lifecycle behavior with small repeatable examples. Learners see why infrastructure code must be reviewed differently from application code.
The final outcome is a compact but well-structured Terraform project that can be initialized, validated, planned, applied, changed, inspected, and destroyed without relying on undocumented manual steps.
What You Will Learn
- Design and implement Terraform workflow and infrastructure-as-code principles for Terraform Essentials.
- Validate HCL blocks, arguments, expressions, and references, Providers, resources, and dependency inference, and Formatting, validation, initialization, and plan output through practical evidence and controlled change.
- Design and implement Input variables, types, defaults, and validation for Terraform Essentials.
- Validate Local values and expression reuse, Data sources and reading existing infrastructure, and Outputs and exposing useful deployment information through practical evidence and controlled change.
- Design and implement State purpose and resource addressing for Terraform Essentials.
- Validate Refresh, drift, replacement, and dependency changes, Import and moved-resource concepts, and Lifecycle settings and safe destruction behavior through practical evidence and controlled change.
- Design and implement Module structure, inputs, outputs, and composition for Terraform Essentials.
- Validate Module sources and version awareness, Folder and naming conventions, and Review checklist for plan, apply, change, and destroy through practical evidence and controlled change.
SkillDynamo Training Approach
Each concept is introduced through a small infrastructure change and immediately inspected through formatting, validation, plan output, state, and provider behavior. Learners maintain a change journal so they can explain why Terraform proposes each action.
