Course Description
ISO/IEC 17025 Lead Assessor Training develops practical capability to lead laboratory assessments that evaluate competence, impartiality, resources, methods, traceability, result validity, and management effectiveness. The learning path begins with assessment principles, accreditation, criteria, scope, competence, and programme and document review, sampling, interviews, witnessing, and evidence trails, connecting PECB and ISO requirements with governance, evidence, stakeholder decisions, and measurable acceptance.
Applied work is framed around an accreditation assessment covering technical staff, equipment, records, methods, and laboratory governance. Learners then progress through resources, methods, traceability, uncertainty, results, and findings and assessment reporting, closing, corrective action, follow-up, and decisions, producing laboratory assessment programme and plan, laboratory assessment working-paper set, technical evidence and finding matrix, and lead-assessor report and follow-up record.
By completion, participants can interpret applicable requirements, perform implementation, audit, assessment, or foundation activities, evaluate evidence, communicate supported conclusions, and hand over clear improvement actions with ownership and follow-up.
What You Will Learn
- Outline assessment principles and accreditation process; establish assessment criteria as the assessment baseline.
- Integrate assessment scope with assessor competence, assigning assessment ownership for independence and assessment programme.
- Prioritize document review, sampling strategy, and interview techniques before approving assessment activity witnessing decisions.
- Use laboratory assessment papers to validate objective evidence, witnessing notes, and sampling decisions.
- Strengthen assessment controls that strengthen personnel competence, equipment, and metrological traceability consistently.
- Challenge measurement uncertainty through assessment quality control scenarios, documenting results against result reporting.
- Reconcile assessment conclusions, closing meeting, and assessment report to identify assessment gaps requiring nonconformity.
- Finalize lead-assessor report and follow-up with assessor conclusions, accreditation recommendations, and verified follow-up evidence.
