Course Description
Certified Digital Forensics Examiner (CDFE) Training develops practical capability to conduct defensible digital investigations by preserving evidence, acquiring data, analysing technologies, and communicating supported conclusions. The learning path begins with forensic principles, legal authority, ethics, and chain of custody and acquisition, imaging, hashing, live response, and data recovery, connecting PECB and ISO requirements with governance, evidence, stakeholder decisions, and measurable acceptance.
Applied work is framed around an investigation team handling cybercrime, misconduct, fraud, insider-risk, and incident-response evidence. Learners then progress through operating systems, mobile, network, cloud, and application analysis and reporting, anti-forensics, peer review, testimony, and closure, producing forensic case plan and custody record, forensic acquisition and integrity log, multi-source forensic analysis workbook, and defensible forensic report and review record.
By completion, participants can interpret applicable requirements, perform implementation, audit, assessment, or foundation activities, evaluate evidence, communicate supported conclusions, and hand over clear improvement actions with ownership and follow-up.
What You Will Learn
- Frame forensic methodology and legal authority; establish investigation ethics as the forensic baseline.
- Structure evidence identification with chain of custody, assigning forensic ownership for evidence integrity and case planning.
- Review forensic acquisition, disk imaging, and hash verification before approving forensic live response decisions.
- Examine forensic acquisition and integrity to validate volatile data, deleted-data recovery, and forensic expectations.
- Develop forensic controls that strengthen Windows artefacts, Linux artefacts, and mobile forensics consistently.
- Confirm cloud evidence through forensic browser artefacts scenarios, documenting results against timeline analysis.
- Analyze anti-forensics, finding validation, and peer review to identify forensic gaps requiring forensic reporting.
- Present defensible forensic report and with peer-review conclusions, testimony limits, and defensible case-closure actions.
SkillDynamo Training Approach
The course follows evidence from legal authority and acquisition through analysis, reporting, validation, and expert communication. Delivery includes instructor demonstrations, guided exercises, scenario analysis, validation checklists, structured troubleshooting, and a final improvement plan.
