Course Description
NIST Cybersecurity Foundation (PECB) develops practical capability to understand NIST Cybersecurity Framework concepts, functions, profiles, tiers, governance, and improvement basics. The four-lesson path moves from core principles and governance into applied controls, evidence, exceptions, and accountable improvement.
Applied work is based on a medium-sized organization establishing a common cybersecurity language across leadership, IT, security, and business teams. Learners create NIST CSF concept and governance map, current profile and tier worksheet, function-based control checklist, and target profile improvement roadmap, while testing decisions against realistic operational constraints.
By completion, participants can interpret the subject, perform the relevant workflow, evaluate evidence, communicate supported conclusions, and hand over prioritized actions with clear ownership and follow-up.
What You Will Learn
- Explain NIST CSF structure and governance concepts; clearly connect it to shared cybersecurity language.
- Map functions, categories, and outcomes; clearly record evidence for organized control understanding.
- Evaluate assets, context, and risk priorities; clearly test criteria supporting relevant framework application.
- Apply current profiles and implementation tiers; clearly create evidence for realistic maturity insight.
- Identify gaps in protective and detective outcomes; clearly protect balanced prevention and visibility.
- Document response and recovery fundamentals; clearly link decisions to coordinated resilience.
- Resolve target profiles and gap priorities scenarios; clearly choose controls for focused improvement planning.
- Present measures and roadmap ownership findings; clearly prioritize accountable framework adoption.
