Course Description
ISO/IEC 27035 Foundation (PECB) develops practical capability to interpret ISO/IEC 27035 incident management principles, preparation, detection, triage, response, recovery, learning, and improvement. The learning path begins with incident management concepts, governance, policy, roles, and preparedness and advances through detection, reporting, triage, classification, analysis, and evidence, connecting requirements and methods with accountable roles, reviewable evidence, and measurable decisions.
Applied work is anchored to a security team coordinating users, technical responders, business owners, legal counsel, communications, and external providers. Learners then address containment, eradication, recovery, communication, and coordination and post-incident review, metrics, exercises, lessons, and improvement, producing incident governance and preparedness map, incident triage and evidence record, response and recovery runbook, and incident lessons and capability report.
Participants finish able to apply the course methods, distinguish evidence gaps from control failures, present defensible results, and track agreed actions through verification.
What You Will Learn
- Compare ISO 27035 incident principles and lifecycle when selecting proportionate actions for structured response understanding.
- Translate governance, roles, policy, and preparedness into practical controls supporting clear incident accountability.
- Prioritize improvements in detection, reporting, and triage criteria using evidence from consistent event escalation.
- Build a repeatable approach to classification, analysis, and evidence handling that improves supported incident decisions.
- Identify containment, eradication, and recovery activities before making decisions about controlled service restoration.
- Document legal, supplier, and communication coordination so stakeholders can verify aligned stakeholder response.
- Recognize exceptions affecting post-incident review and root-cause analysis and escalate risks to actionable lessons learned.
- Test metrics, exercises, and corrective actions through realistic scenarios involving improved response capability.
SkillDynamo Training Approach
Learners move from interpretation to application through demonstrations, controlled exercises, exception scenarios, peer review, evidence validation, and improvement planning. Activities are tailored to ISO/IEC 27035 Foundation (PECB) and its operational context.
