Course Description
BC100: Introduction to Programming with ABAP develops practical capability in introductory ABAP programming with development tools, program structure, data objects, internal tables, Open SQL, modularization, debugging, exceptions, repository objects, and transport basics.
Learners progress through ABAP Development Environment, Repository, Program Structure, Syntax, Data Types, Variables, and Expressions; Control Structures, Modularization, Methods, Function Modules, Internal Tables, and Field Symbols; Open SQL, Database Tables, Selection Screens, Joins, Aggregation, and Result Presentation; Debugging, Exceptions, Messages, Testing, Performance Basics, Repository Activation, and Transports, connecting SAP behavior with business decisions, controls, and reviewable evidence.
The learning journey follows a new ABAP developer creating a small report that reads business data, transforms it safely, displays results, and can be tested and transported and produces a practical BC100 ABAP source, test, debug, and technical-documentation portfolio for implementation and operational use.
What You Will Learn
- Map ABAP environment and language basics across SAP roles, process steps, controls, and evidence.
- Configure program structure, types, and expressions with reliable master data and integration dependencies.
- Execute ABAP flow and modularization and interpret resulting documents, messages, and analytical evidence.
- Diagnose internal tables, methods, and field symbols through targeted checks, traces, logs, and transaction evidence.
- Validate ABAP data access and reporting against business rules, authorization boundaries, and acceptance criteria.
- Compare Open SQL, selections, joins, and output alternatives and explain operational, technical, and governance trade-offs.
- Document ABAP debugging and lifecycle using reproducible settings, test results, ownership, and handover notes.
- Improve exceptions, testing, activation, and transports through monitoring, exception handling, measurable controls, and review cycles.
