Course Description
BC400 – ABAP Workbench Foundations equips participants to use ABAP Workbench tools, dictionary objects, procedural language elements, internal tables, modularization, reports, debugging, and basic user-interface techniques to build maintainable SAP programs. Each lesson links SAP objects and process decisions to operational controls, integration behavior, and evidence that can be reviewed.
The practical case concerns an application development team creating a controlled custom reporting solution while learning repository organization, data definitions, reusable code, debugging, and transport-ready documentation. Course activities produce ABAP repository and dictionary workbook, ABAP data-processing exercise pack, modular report development workbook, and ABAP foundation assurance plan and require learners to investigate a dictionary change activates but invalidates a dependent program; an internal table key choice produces duplicate or missing output rows; a reused procedure changes global state and affects a later report event; a defect is corrected locally but the transported dependency is missing.
After the course, learners can navigate the Workbench, define dictionary artifacts, write and modularize ABAP code, build reports, analyze runtime behavior, correct defects, and prepare development objects for review.
What You Will Learn
- Map Workbench repository navigation to the roles, data, and controls governing maintainable ABAP programs.
- Apply ABAP Dictionary design so daily maintainable ABAP programs activities remain consistent and reviewable.
- Perform procedural syntax usage using the correct SAP documents, statuses, and approval evidence.
- Test internal table processing across normal processing, integration dependencies, and access restrictions.
- Investigate modularization technique selection when observed outcomes conflict with documented business expectations.
- Correct report event programming issues and prove the fix through focused, traceable retesting.
- Use debugger analysis practices results to explain risk, performance, and next-step priorities.
- Document transport-ready documentation ownership, review frequency, evidence retention, and escalation criteria.
SkillDynamo Training Approach
Instructor walkthroughs are followed by hands-on SAP practice, structured scenario decisions, evidence reviews, targeted troubleshooting, validation checklists, and a final action plan specific to ABAP Workbench development.
