Course Description
DO180 Red Hat OpenShift Administration I: Operating a Production Cluster develops practical capability in container, Kubernetes, and OpenShift operations for deploying applications, managing projects, routes, configuration, storage, health, and production cluster workloads.
Learners progress through Containers, Kubernetes, OpenShift Architecture, CLI, and Web Console; Projects, Applications, Builds, Deployments, Services, and Routes; Configuration, Secrets, Storage, Probes, Scaling, and Resource Control; Production Operations, Monitoring, Troubleshooting, and Application Recovery. Each stage connects Red Hat technology with implementation decisions, operational controls, troubleshooting, and reviewable evidence.
The learning journey follows a platform operations team onboarding containerized services onto a shared OpenShift production cluster and produces a practical OpenShift workload operations portfolio, deployment evidence, health checks, and incident runbook for implementation and operational use.
What You Will Learn
- Diagnose OpenShift architecture and Kubernetes workload relationships through targeted checks, traces, and corrective testing.
- Validate projects, identities, CLI, and console operations against security, reliability, governance, and acceptance criteria.
- Compare application builds, deployments, services, and routes alternatives and explain operational and technical trade-offs.
- Document configuration and secrets for portable workloads using repeatable commands, evidence, ownership, and handover notes.
- Improve persistent storage and stateful application requirements through monitoring, exception handling, automation, and review cycles.
- Map health probes, scaling, and resource governance across architecture, roles, dependencies, controls, and evidence.
- Configure logs, events, rollouts, and failure diagnosis with reproducible settings and validated prerequisites.
- Execute production workload recovery and operational handover and interpret outputs, events, logs, and system behavior.
