Course Description
Podman Fundamentals develops practical capability in Podman fundamentals for installing, running, building, securing, networking, storing, grouping, monitoring, and troubleshooting containers in rootless and managed workflows.
Learners progress through Podman Installation, Architecture, CLI, Images, Registries, and Containers; Containerfiles, Builds, Layers, Tags, Inspection, and Image Management; Rootless Security, Networking, Ports, Volumes, Environment, and Pods; Logs, Health, Systemd, Compose Concepts, Troubleshooting, and Delivery. Each stage connects Red Hat technology with implementation decisions, operational controls, troubleshooting, and reviewable evidence.
The learning journey follows a Linux practitioner adopting daemonless containers for local development and lightweight service delivery and produces a practical Podman command workbook, container build artifacts, rootless security checks, and service-management guide for implementation and operational use.
What You Will Learn
- Diagnose Podman architecture, installation, and daemonless operation through targeted checks, traces, and corrective testing.
- Validate image discovery, registry authentication, and container lifecycle against security, reliability, governance, and acceptance criteria.
- Compare Containerfiles, builds, layers, tags, and inspection alternatives and explain operational and technical trade-offs.
- Document rootless containers and user-namespace security using repeatable commands, evidence, ownership, and handover notes.
- Improve container networking, ports, volumes, and environment through monitoring, exception handling, automation, and review cycles.
- Map pods and coordinated multi-container operation across architecture, roles, dependencies, controls, and evidence.
- Configure logs, health checks, systemd, and service management with reproducible settings and validated prerequisites.
- Execute Podman troubleshooting, cleanup, and delivery practices and interpret outputs, events, logs, and system behavior.
SkillDynamo Training Approach
